MahWengKwai & Associates (MWKA) is pleased to announce that we have won the Matrimonial and Family Law Firm of the Year Award at the ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2021. Additionally, our partner, Cassandra Nicole Thomazios, has received the Woman Lawyer of the Year Award (Law Firm).
MWKA’s partners Christine Toh and Gan Chong Chieh were finalists in the “Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year” and “Young Lawyer of the Year” categories, respectively.
The 8th Annual ALB Awards, which was held virtually on 22 July this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pays tribute to outstanding performance by law firms, legal practitioners and in-house legal teams. The awards serve to recognise the accomplishments, hard work and effort by legal teams in Malaysia and around the region.
Dato’ Mah Weng Kwai, consultant and founder of the firm, said the recent ALB Awards are in recognition of the professionalism and quality legal services rendered by Cassandra and the law firm in the past year. “The awards are the result of the dedication, commitment and hard work put in by the team in MWKA. Congratulations and Syabas to all!” he said.
Managing Partner Raymond Mah said that the firm’s family law team was very excited to receive this recognition. He credited the team, including Jasmine Wong and Eric Toh, for their consistent hard work in helping families with complex citizenship, divorce and custody issues.
Cassandra said she was honoured and humbled to win Woman Lawyer of the Year amongst such talented senior lawyers. “Recognition certainly goes to the MWKA team for all their support and to all the amazing women lawyers out there who always strive to achieve wonders,” she said.
MWKA previously won “Sports Law Firm of the Year” in 2019 and 2018. In 2016, MWKA won “Boutique Law Firm of the Year”. In 2015, MWKA won “Litigation Law Firm of the Year” jointly with Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill.
